Nintendo unveil “Nintendo Life Summer Picks” 3DS eShop Shelf

Loughborough, England, 26th July 2012: Nintendo Life, a world-leading Nintendo focused website, is proud to announce that it has again been selected by Nintendo of America to provide recommended downloads on its 3DS eShop.

Just in time for summer, the "Nintendo Life Summer Picks" shelf went live today in the 3DS eShop in North America, where it will run for one week. This dedicated store shelf highlights 20 must-have summer downloads that have been hand-picked by four of Nintendo Life's knowledgeable and experienced contributors: Features Editor Thomas Whitehead, Downloads Editor Corbie Dillard, US Reviewer Philip J Reed and Euro Reviewer Marcel van Duyn.

"Following the success of our last eShop shelf, it's been a great honour to have the opportunity to work again with Nintendo of America on Nintendo Life's Summer Picks promotion," said Nintendo Life Operations Director Darren Calvert. "We feel our staff choices represent some of the best games available for download on 3DS, and great value for money. We hope everyone will be able to find games on the shelf that they can enjoy."

Nintendo Life Features Editor Thomas Whitehead added: "Our first shelf predominantly featured DSiWare titles, and it shows how far the eShop library has come that the focus this time is mostly on 3DS exclusives and the Virtual Console. The list features a variety of 3D and 2D classics, extremely challenging but satisfying indie games such as VVVVVV and titles with a very broad appeal, such as Bird Mania 3D and Colors! 3D."

The full list of games selected by Nintendo Life can be found at www.nintendolife.com/summerpicks.

Nintendo Life Appoints New Editor

Loughborough, UK, 10th July 2012: Nintendo Life Editor James Newton will step down from his role to take up the position of Junior Online Editor at Nintendo of Europe in Frankfurt, Germany next month.

"Nintendo Life's growth since I joined in 2008 has been amazing, and I've enjoyed every minute working with its talented and dedicated team," said Newton. "I'm truly proud of what we've been able to build, and I'm confident that the site will keep expanding and improving after my departure. I'm incredibly excited to join the team at Nintendo of Europe next month and I can't wait to start my adventure in Germany!"

Nintendo Life's Editorial Director Damien McFerran will take on the position of Editor full-time from August 2012. He will be responsible for coordination of all news, reviews and features as well as overseeing some exciting new enhancements to the site in preparation for the Wii U launch later this year. McFerran brings with him a decade of videogames and technology journalism experience, and has had his work published in magazines such as Retro Gamer and GamesTM, as well as on websites including Eurogamer, Pocket Gamer, Know Your Mobile and CNET UK.

"James has been an instrumental part of Nintendo Life's success over the past few years," said McFerran. "Under his guidance, the site has grown to attract over one million visits a month and has attained an enviable reputation within the industry, making it the world's leading resource for all things Nintendo. We see this as an opportunity to build on the excellent foundations James has laid during his time with the site, and we wish him all the best in his exciting new position with Nintendo of Europe."

Speaking about the changeover, Anthony Dickens, Managing Director of Nintendo Life said "James's departure is a great loss for the team and we wish him well in his new adventure at Nintendo of Europe. Going from start-up to viable business we have always tried to nurture raw talent and help the people in our community, both writers and readers, to get more involved in the industry we all love. James's success story is a great example of this in action, and should serve as inspiration to up-and-coming writers. Looking to the future, Damien's writing pedigree and passion for all things Nintendo make him the perfect man to take over the reins."

Nintendo Life unveils redesign and enters PlayStation sector with Push Square

Loughborough, UK, 13th February 2012: Nlife Ltd is proud to announce that Nintendo Life, the world’s largest independent Nintendo-focused website, has undergone a major face-lift to cement its position as the world’s leading destination for Nintendo fans.

The latest update builds upon an existing well-loved design and adds HTML5 support. The site has been refined to make browsing Nintendo Life’s world-beating archive of news, features and over 2,100 reviews easier and more enjoyable than before.

The major upgrade comes hot on the heels of the Nlife Ltd’s acquisition and successful relaunch of Push Square earlier this month. With 500 reviews and 10,000 news articles in its back catalogue and now the guidance of the Nlife team going forward, Push Square is poised to become a major player in the global PlayStation space.

“It’s great to finally see Push Square and the new Nintendo Life design go live,” said Nintendo Life Managing Director Anthony Dickens. “We’ve been working on these updates for some time; our site’s readership has grown exponentially over the past few years and we hope they’ll love the new layout as we progress with more updates and features in 2012.”

“I’ve been a fan of both Nintendo and PlayStation for many years,” said Network Editor James Newton. “I’m really excited to lead the team into a new era of game coverage: with Vita and Wii U both due out this year it’s set to be a great 2012 for gaming, our network and our readers.”

Nlife has also entered into a partnership with Eurogamer Network to handle the advertising sales for Nintendo Life as well as the newly relaunched Push Square. Rupert Loman, Managing Director of Eurogamer added: “We‘ve been really impressed by the Nintendo Life team and what they‘ve achieved so far. We‘re looking forward to helping them maximise their success with both sites."

Nintendo unveil “Favourites of Nintendo Life” 3DS eShop Shelf

Nintendo unveil “Favourites of Nintendo Life” 3DS eShop Shelf

Loughborough, England, 16th September 2011: Nintendo Life, the world’s largest independent Nintendo-focused website, is proud to announce that it has been selected by Nintendo to provide recommended downloads on its 3DS eShop.

The “Favourites of Nintendo Life” shelf went live in the 3DS eShop on Thursday, 15th September and will run for one week. It has been localised into seven languages across Europe, North America and Australia. This dedicated store shelf highlights must-have downloads that have been hand-picked by Nintendo Life‘s knowledgeable and experienced contributors.

“We‘ve worked hard over the past few years to provide expert coverage of all of Nintendo‘s downloadable games," said Nintendo Life operations director Darren Calvert. “It‘s been both a pleasure and an honour to work closely with Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe in order to provide this selection of our favourite eShop games, and we hope they will enable 3DS owners to get even more enjoyment out of their console."

Nintendo Life downloads editor Corbie Dillard added: “You might assume that it would be quite easy for a group of people who spend so much of their time reviewing games to choose a list of favourites, however it proved to be a real challenge putting together a final list we all agreed on, especially considering the wide variety of titles available across the various services. Titles such as Shantae: Risky‘s Revenge, The Legend of Zelda: Link‘s Awakening DX, Plants vs. Zombies and Dark Void Zero are must-have downloads and I’m happy that Nintendo Life has been able to bring them to the attention of 3DS owners the world over.”
